Hello! I’m Liana. I’m a systems-oriented computer engineer with core competency in enterprise hardware, Linux, and information security. On the hardware side, I design systems at enterprise scale that remain resilient across multiple failure domains.
I work a primarily with Nix and RHEL, and daily-drive NixOS. At home I operate a mini PC Kubernetes cluster that runs a mix of NixOS with virtualized Talos Linux, plus FreeBSD. In my work I strongly emphasize infrastructure as code, declarative configuration, and reproducibility.
Ongoing projects include:
- Exploring independent webrings and alternate internet protocols
- Building sovereign (not public cloud) home and community infrastructure
- Qualifying for Red Hat Certified Architect in Enterprise Linux (four certs so far)
- Deploying CARP and spine-leaf for my extensive home network
- Getting more into writing
I am currently living in Chicago, Illinois with my beloved wife. My interests include open source, philosophy, structural analysis, zen buddhism, baseball, and generally becoming more physically active.
